Cleaning the grinder - effortless cleaning

How to clean your grinder properly

Your grinder is one of the most important tools when it comes to perfectly preparing your favorite herb. However, over time, resin, dust and plant residue build up, which can clog the grinder and affect its quality. Regular cleaning ensures a smooth grinding experience, preserves the flavor and extends the life of your grinder. Here you will learn step by step how to clean your grinder thoroughly.

Why should a grinder stay clean?

  • Easier handling: Resin and residue can limit the mobility of the grinder.
  • Better taste: Fresh herbs taste more intense when there are no old residues in between.
  • Hygiene: A clean grinder is free of dirt and bacteria.
  • Kief yield: A clean container collects kief more effectively.

What you need for cleaning

  • Isopropyl alcohol (at least 90%) or warm water with detergent
  • An old toothbrush, small brush or cotton swab
  • A small sieve for kief residue
  • A towel for drying
  • Optional: A freezer compartment

cleaning instructions

1. Disassemble the grinder

  • Disassemble the grinder into all its individual parts: lid, grinding chamber, collecting container and sieve.
  • Brush off any large residue with a dry toothbrush. If there is still kief stuck to the sieve or in the collection container, carefully brush it into a clean container.

2. Freeze resin (optional)

  • Place all pieces in the freezer for about 30 minutes.
  • The frozen resin becomes brittle and can be more easily removed with a brush or knife.

3. Cleaning the individual parts

  • With isopropyl alcohol:
    • Dip all parts in a bowl of isopropyl alcohol and let them soak for 10-15 minutes.
    • Clean resinous areas thoroughly with a brush or cotton swab.
  • With warm water and detergent:
    • If you don't want to use alcohol, mix warm water with a little dish soap.
    • Soak the parts and then clean them with a brush.

4. Rinse thoroughly

  • Rinse all parts with clean, warm water to remove any alcohol or soap residue.

5. Drying

  • Lay the pieces on a clean towel and let them dry completely. Moisture can encourage rust or mold growth, so give yourself plenty of time.

maintenance and care

  • After each use: Remove loose residue and kief with a brush to prevent layers from building up.
  • Regular cleaning: If used frequently, we recommend thorough cleaning every 1-2 weeks.
  • Mobility: If the lid is stiff, you can treat the joints with some cooking oil or a specialized lubricant (only for metal grinders).

Summary

A clean grinder not only improves functionality, but also ensures a better tasting result. With a little effort, your grinder will stay in perfect condition and give you pleasure every time you use it. Regular care pays off - both in the quality and the lifespan of your grinder!

Tip: High-quality metal grinders are easier to clean and last longer than plastic models. Invest in quality and save yourself extra effort!
